Announcements and such:
We’re working on a few things, slowly but surely. We’ll be making a form for people to fill out to collect some feedback, as well as gage interest from people who would like to write with or work with us - expect that in the next week or so. I’m also writing up an article discussing the NFT tool stack, where I’ll discuss some of the best resources for news, analysis, rarities, sniping and the like. In the meantime, come hang out.
TLDR:
Yuga Labs gives Punk owners their rights. Many older projects - like DystoPunks, Kaijus and Ether Orcs - are continuously growing their ecosystems. Treasure Market returns. New mints find their footing in uncertain market conditions.
News and Notes:
Bored Ape Yacht Club has had a big week. A day after teasing a collaboration with Animoca Brands at somethingisbrewing.xyz, Yuga Labs changed the landscape of the space by acquiring CryptoPunks and Meebits from Larva Labs and giving full commercial rights to holders - read their announcement here. The move has stirred up praise, denouncements and everything in between. It has also caused a massive increase in demand for Meebits, which started even before the announcement. It is unclear whether Punk holders will receive benefits from Yuga in the future (or whether they would want that). Read a good thread from 6529 here.

DystoPunks released their VX collection at the beginning of the week. These voxel models are rather impressive in appearance, successfully capturing the futuristic feel of the initial collection. One of the older and more successful Punk derivatives, DystoPunks have built an ecosystem with P2E elements and a number of collaborations. The next items on the roadmap include the launch of the Dystolab, where holders can open their crates and upgrade their VXs, and integration into Worldwide Web3.
Ether Orcs delayed the release of the third of four planned Allies collection, the Rogues. The Polygon bridge has been down and the team is waiting for it to be restored before launching. EtherOrcs set the bar in “on-chain gaming” and have continued to deliver value month after month. Their ecosystem has a lot of moving parts and has served as inspiration for many of the P2E collections we have today. Read more on Rogues here; detailed information about other allies, items, staking and such is available on their Medium.
Kaiju Kingz announced they are expanding their P2E ecosystem with the introduction of at least four new tokens. Genesis, Baby and Mutant Kaijus will all produce $SCALES (albeit different amounts with different qualifications). $SCALES will be used to create DNA to infuse into Baby Kaijus or redeemed for an Alpha Pass, a tradable NFT that grants access to Kaiju alpha channels. Scientists will attempt to steal the $SCALES. The launch date for the P2E mechanics and Scientists have yet to be announced. Get the full details from their Medium post here.
Looks Labs Green Passes will be morphing into Game Keys during the bud minting process going on this weekend. Game Keys will give holders access to future games from Looks Labs, including the recently announced (and Beanie-backed) End Game. Game Key holders are the only people eligible to mint bud, the first piece of their gaming universe, and will receive land and “special airdrops” in the future.
Thingdoms literally went to space before the release of their new airdrop, Samples. They are primarily a gift, but could have some utility in the future such as functioning as a serum or mint pass. Read their Medium post about Samples here and check out the collection on OpenSea here.
Smol Brains released their whitepaper on Friday the 11th, providing more details on Smolville, Smolcoin, treasure farming and more - read the full thing here. While the whitepaper doesn’t include any release dates, it’s clear that Smolville has been under development from sometime now and the vision is becoming much clearer. The game will evolve over time with “very little user input,” similarly to how Smol Land evolved as IQ went up. The Treasure Marketplace came back online Saturday, hopefully marking the end of a volatile period for TreasureDAO.

Recent Launches:
The Bibiz will have unique utility within The Habibiz ecosystem. The collection of baby Habibiz is fully animated and sold out quite quickly. The whitelist marketplace has continued to prosper for Habibiz and they’ve continued to add utility for $OIL, which will be used to mint the upcoming Habibiz VX collection. Read an updated overview here.
Generative Nature Synthetic Species (GNSS) minted on Friday. The collection comes from MGXS, resident mad scientist at RTFKT, and was supported by RTFKT developers, who helped with the smart contracts. The initial mint distributed “seeds,” the equivalent of mint vials. Starting on Sunday the 13th, holders will have one month to redeem their seeds for a GNSS. Find more details about the redemption process in their Discord FAQ.
Gutter Juice is the newest piece of the Gutter Cat Gang ecosystem. Juice can be burned in the Clone Machine to create a Gutter Clone. This can be done alongside a GCG asset, creating a Clone of said asset, or on its own, creating a Clone with randomized properties. The Clone Machine will come online “in the coming weeks,” further expanding the GCG universe. Read the details in their blog post here.
I Like You, You’re Weird minted on the 7th and has remained on top sales charts throughout the week. The admittedly weird collection comes from Amber Park and Mason Rothschild, two experienced creatives with some history in the space. Mason’s first collection, MetaBirkins, gained some viral fame after Hermes sued. ILYYW revealed over the weekend and is certainly unique.
Loser Club has found itself on sales boards consistently since minting last week. This community-focused collection brings a fresh art style with male and female Losers sporting traits pay homage to other NFT collections and pop culture at large.
Quantum Key gives holders access to mints, events, and an exclusive collectors lounge at Quantum Space LA, which is planned to open in June. Quantum Art, founded Jonas Lamis and famed NFT photographer Justin Aversano, is a platform for photographers in Web3 to collaborate and release works. The Quantum Key gives holders access to more from Quantum, including whitelist and airdrop opportunities. Quantum is another collection leading the charge to fuse real world utility with digital tokens.
Upcoming Launches:
Humankind is an upcoming project from Pablo Stanley, the founder of Robotos. While we don’t know when it will mint and the Discord is closed for the time being, they’ve continued teasing art on Twitter and are a project to keep an eye on.
Peek-A-Boo will be minting on the 21st and will have their game ready to go at launch. The project will be traded on Treasure Marketplace on Arbitrum. Players will earn $BOO for playing and can use it to level up and customize traits. Peek-A-Boo will be a free mint for those on the whitelist.
NFT Market Overview:
While volume is still low, sentiment isn’t quite as negative as it was last week. We still saw plenty of new project releases this week, a number of which performed quite well. Yuga Labs acquisition of Punks and Meebits brought increased volume to all relevant collections. GNSS did over 2,000e in volume traded during its first hour alone, showing that the market is still alive and well, albeit less frequently. Although unpredictable macro factors could still lead the market lower, the NFT market showed a good bit of robustness this week.
