I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has been reading, subscribing and sharing Page One. We’ll certainly be looking to do more articles like that in the future.
Sheet for writers/collaborators coming this weekend I promise. NFT tools and analysis article from yours truly next week. Page One 14 on Sunday/Monday.
TLDR:
BAYC and the Yuga ecosystem has completely dominated volume throughout this week. Many new and cheaper collections (under 0.1e) have been popping up across top sales charts but few have moved substantial volume. Regardless, projects have continued to announce new plans and developments. Volume has returned a bit, signaling traders may be becoming more comfortable operating in a market full of ambiguity.
News and Notes:
Bored Ape Yacht Club basically deserves their own article this week. After their big surprise acquisition, they delivered what Apes had been waiting months for - $APE. The announcement came as a bit of a surprise, as reports of their planned sale of 200,000 land tokens surfaced on Tuesday. $APE claims started at 8:30 am on Thursday with multiple CEXs, including FTX and Coinbase, launching around the same time. The token shot up to $40 on FTX before falling to the mid-single digits, where its bounced around throughout the morning. This is a huge airdrop for some people and many are hoping it could be the fuel needed to kick off an NFT run. On top of the new token and land sale rumors, SUPERPLASTIC announced they’ll be collaborating with BAYC on something in the near future.
Karafuru announced details for the 3D collection on Wednesday. There will be 15,555 pieces - 5,555 for Karafuru holders, 3,000 for whitelisters, and 7,000 for public sale. Expanding their community will inevitably bring a bit more attention to the collection, which hasn’t revisited its peaks but is delivering quickly. Physical assets are also expected at some point in the future.
Metroverse announced their upcoming Blackout collection will release on March 22. Metro Pods will be introduced alongside the Blackout collection. The Pods can steal, shield or boost $MET production and will play an important part in the ecosystem. The collection has held up quite well over the past few weeks, consistently appearing on passive yield power ranking charts. They’ve also partnered with a number of projects, including Karafuru and Ether Orcs, to introduce collaborative city blocks that will be included in the Blackout collection. More details on their PVP game can likely be expected sometime after the Blackout collection mints.
Mushrohms announced they will soon open the Transmutation Bridge, a reversible bridge that will convert 3D Mushrohms on Etherium Mainnet to a 2D pixel Mushrohm on Arbitrum. Mushrohms are part of Olympus’ Odyssey program, which aims to build a “liquid secondary NFT market for $OHM.” They’ve previously announced the Mushrohms would be migrating to Arbitrum and have a partnership with TreasureDAO. While we are still unsure where their L2 NFTs will be sold (Treasure Market or Trove) and when the Transmutation Bridge will open, it’s encouraging to see Olympus making progress. OHM Odyssey also announced their upcoming genesis mint.

MultiverseVM has been sharing teasers ahead of their Alpha Launch on Sunday the 20th. MVM has upped their marketing and community efforts since releasing details about their game, which remained largely curtained at the beginning. Recently they’ve been striking up new partnerships and gaining more attention. Holders will be excited to enter their “open metaverse” for the first time this weekend.
Recent Launches:
10KTF: Gucci Grail mint passes finished minting on the 15th and must be redeemed for items between the 16th and 18th. In traditional Wagmi-san fashion, there are few details about exactly what will reveal from these mint passes besides, of course, it will be Gucci. The item can be redeemed for any of the collections supported by 10KTF. After starting as an intriguing vendor of quirky digital goods, Wagmi-son has grown 10KTF into an ecosystem full of moving parts and fun collaborations that looks like its poised for more growth. It’ll be interesting to see what Gucci has in store when items are revealed on the 23rd.
Brick Breaker, a new game from gmoney and GM420 Labs, minted on Monday. The game is playable on OpenSea and other NFT marketplaces and anyone can play, but only the owner can record a high score. It’s a classic brick breaker game, but is intended as a showcase of GM420’s on-chain compression algorithms. Holders of the GM420 token could claim for free (and can claim all of their drops for free), while gmoney POAP holders were eligible for the presale.
Goopdoods began their mint on the Tuesday and it progressed steadily until sell-out on Wednesday night. The colorful collection of goops may blend together a bit at the floor, but rarer and more intricate pieces are genuinely eye-catching. Artist Andrew Friesen has been drawing Goopdude since 2016 and the team has focused the roadmap around branding, events and community input, including a community vault containing 35% of proceeds and royalties.
Martian Premier League minted out Wednesday night before reaching public sale. The project is creating a “‘football manager’ style game where holders can train, trade and compete” using their characters, who double as pfps - that don’t look half bad. Enhancing the experience is an element of storytelling that seems like it will continue to be a focus, especially considering their founder Eleanor Nugent’s experience working on the Harry Potter franchise. Their whitepaper details their inspirations and vision - read it here.
Muri is the latest anime pfp collection to find its way to the top of the sales charts. While the anime craze has certainly slowed down compared to January, it’s always in vogue with the crypto crowd and there has been plenty of interest in Muri. The art style blends the clean, detailed lines of Azuki with cartoonish traits and colors, hopefully giving the collection a fresh feel. Reveal will take place on the 20th.
ZombieClub began their mint on the 15th and had a final public sale Thursday morning. The collection comes from Disco.eth, lok666 and their team and features art by Kosuke Kawamura, an artist with experience across the streetwear industry. There are various types of DNA, ranging from zombies to elves to orcs. The team is well known in Asian markets and plans to offer blockchain education resources, IRL events, and access to “homegrown content production units,” among other membership perks.
Upcoming Launches:
Arcade is an upcoming GameFi metaverse from the creators of the Apes vs. Mutants game. Their plans sound comparable to Worldwide Web3 - an open metaverse where users can interact with others, bring their NFTs to life, and play games to earn tokens. While there are little details known at this time, some are speculating that their game could make use of $APE given their previous connections to Yuga Labs. Something to keep an eye on.
Benji Bananas, a popular mobile game made by Animoca Labs, announced yesterday they are becoming a P2E game that utilizes $APE token. The traditional mobile game has over 50m downloads, demonstrating there are plenty of people playing these games without earning - now add $APE token. Membership passes will go on sale tonight, March 17th, at 9pm EST and will cost 25 $APE per pass. Check out this article for more details.
Genies, an NFT avatars project from NBA Top Shot founders Dapper Labs, received a new Board member: former Disney CEO Bob Iger. The project, which will be on Flow chain, is supported by Universal Music Group and a number of notable investors from outside of the Cryptosphere. While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is indicative of what is coming - mass appeal, pop culture, tech giants and their followers. A release date for their NFTs has not been announced, although they’ve run early-access tests of their app without blockchain elements. Read a bit more here and find their blog here.
NFT Market Overview:
Despite the Yuga Labs ecosystem moving incredible volumes over the past few days, average daily volume is still lower than previous months. With around $1B in OS volume so far in March, we’re on pace to finish with the lowest monthly volume since November, which finished with $2.1B traded. The next few days should be interesting to watch as traders - many of whom received an $APE airdrop - start to move from BAYC and co. into smaller collections, potentially providing more liquidity for the market at large.
