i figured we would give Substack a try as it simplifies presentation and formatting, streamlines links and charts, and allows P1 to be distributed far and wide. for today and Sunday, we’ll see how this works and what everyone thinks. as usual, feedback, contributions and thoughts of all kinds are encouraged, and everything is subject to change. if the Substack is well-received, i’ll go back and add the previous three articles.

since we are in a new place and some of you may be reading this for the first time, i will re-emphasize: this remains an information-focused roundup. inclusion in P1 is not an endorsement nor a recommendation. these are not projects that i like or am bullish on, but simply projects i have seen around or heard about. information in this article is verified to the extent that it can be, but i still get things wrong sometimes, so verify yourself as well. the goal is to assist you in making better decisions, not to make decisions for you.

TLDR:

anime (still). “play” to earn “games”. legacy and luxury brands. all-time high NFT volume. macro uncertainty. political war games. it kinda feels like the world economy is teetering on the edge of a cliff, yet we see new entrants to the crypto and NFT space and (long-term) bullish news every day.

News and Notes:

• Pixel Vault announced a $100m fundraising round, a third Planets giveaway, and a snapshot for MetaHero Sidekicks in their town hall today. barely two weeks removed from an embarrassing episode involving a certain early investor, PV reemphasizes that they are serious about being a leader in this space. all PV collections saw increased volume and rising floors over the past two days.

  • MetaHero IDs: 6.4k current supply, 6.7e floor (at time of writing)

  • Planets: ~8k current supply, .39e floor

• Rug Radio has done over 12,000e of volume in the past three days, garnering more attention from those may not have known exactly what the deal was (myself included).

  • Rug Radio Genesis: 19k supply, 1.28e floor

• V1 CryptoPunks were rediscovered and wrapped to solve the bug that killed them last week. they were eaten up with haste, peaking above 30e floor, before being spat out today after Larva Labs announced they would be “taking appropriate steps in the coming days.” an interesting lesson in NFT history and art rights - a bit more here

  • 1.5k current supply, 15e floor

• SUPERGUCCI, the collaboration between Gucci and collectibles company SuperPlastic, released 300 out of their 500 pieces on Feb 1. the sale was instantly botted and instantly profitable. botters are disappointed to hear the remaining 200 pieces will be raffled off at a later date.

  • 308/500 supply, 1.5e mint, 16e floor

• Atari released a 50th anniversary commemorative collection last night that sent nft-general into a glugging spiral. the gift boxes will open up to reveal an Atari-related animation at an unknown date

  • 10k supply, 0.1e mint, 0.3e floor

our favorite arbitrum marketplace has had a week:

• some personnel problems have been sorted out, as have the marketplace bugs and issues with unstaking Legions.

• the Smol Pets airdrop is planned for sometime tonight and the Smols team is back on track for treasures and farming, which will be live at an unannounced date.

  • Smol Brains: 12k supply, free mint, 2,500 $magic floor

  • Magic: $4.15 at time of writing

• Toadstoolz, Enjooyer, and Peek-a-Boo will be some of the first collections on Trove, Treasure’s larger marketplace. dates are unannounced, but is expected in Q1.

in anime news, because that’s a thing now:

• Lives of Asuna has done impressive volume since minting on Jan 28, but has a ways to go until they reveal on Monday, Feb 7

  • 10k supply, 0.2e mint, 2.8e floor

• Azuki has melted faces since reveal, peaking at about 16e and spawning more copycats that you can count. just three weeks after release, Azuki sits at #9 on OpenSea’s all-time volume rankings with 90,000e traded

  • 10k supply, 1e mint, 12e floor

• Persona Lamps are anime lamps who wear the clothes of their past selves. eventually they’ll turn into their past selves with the Origin Stories collection

New and Upcoming:

• Cool Pets allowlist and public mint has been delayed due to DNS issues; no timetable has been provided for when the mint will take place. Cat holders can still claim their pets

• Coachella will auction 10 lifetime ticket NFTs on Friday, Feb 4th at 1pm EST

• Karafuru begins their presale on Friday, Feb 4th at 9am EST with a public sale 24 hours later

• BAPE will make their debut in the NFT scene with Bapetaverse. a mint date has not been announced yet

• WizardsDAO announced Apprentices, collection of 6969 rookie wizards. mint date is not yet known

• Pixlverse delayed their mint; presale is Friday, Feb 4th at 4pm EST and public sale is Feb 5th at 5:30 pm EST

P2E collections with various mechanics have been a theme over the past week:

• RaidParty’s public sale will commence tomorrow, Feb 3rd at 4pm EST after some delays. a new reservation system is being used to mitigate gas wars.

  • Heroes: 2.4e floor

  • Fighters: 0.725e floor

• Starkade, a gamefi collection that will have physical collectibles and a board game, minted yesterday. reveal is planned for Saturday, Feb 5 at 3pm EST.

  • 7k supply, 0.08e mint, 0.25e floor

• Farm Land by Pixels minted yesterday and already have a playable alpha of their farming game.

• Ethernal Elves minted on the 31st and 1st with a staking and questing ready at launch. owners can mint more Elves using the $REN token. more modes are to be added over time.

NFT Market Overview:

February 1st set the record for daily volume on OpenSea with about $360M jpegs changing hands. LooksRare continues to trend upwards, as the platform hit all-time highs in organic volume, users and transactions. numbers like this imply new users are consistently entering the space as corporations and celebrities continue to bring attention to crypto and NFTs.
